About

gyuoHi, my name is Darrelle and I welcome you to DIY Creative Workshop!

My love for all things creative began when I was just a little girl. At an early age, I found fulfillment in expressing myself through art, especially in drawing and painting. I was encouraged by my family to pursue artistic avenues and have won many awards and accolades through the years. As I grew into adulthood, my passion for the arts bloomed into a successful career as both a professional Artist and Teacher.

For the past 15 years I have been teaching several levels of art courses (including Advanced Placement) at an area high school. I absolutely love creating new projects and sharing my passion for art with others. I really enjoy working with children and adults of all ages.

In addition to teaching, I have been an independent muralist for more than 20 years. My work can be seen in private homes, businesses and public spaces including my own school district, which has hired me to paint several murals of note on school campuses throughout the city.

shutterstock_416524360Shortly after I began painting as a professional muralist, I started creating DIY projects and have been successfully selling my work for nearly two decades. People are always enlisting me to help solve creative problems or asking me “How did you think of that?” or “How did you make that?” Those people and their questions inspired me to begin these workshops. Now I can show you hands-on how to DIY in a fun and easygoing environment. You will not believe how enjoyable the classes really are!

At DIY Creative Workshop, my goal is for you to have an artistic experience you won’t forget! I look forward to sharing my techniques with you so that you can create beautiful and unique works of art that you will treasure for years to come.

I hope to see you soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you don’t see your question below.

How do I register for a class?

To register for a class, go to the calendar page, select a project and date, and enter the required information on the registration form.

Do I have to be artistic to take a Workshop?

Absolutely NOT! No artistic experience is required. At DIY Creative Workshop, we provide guided instruction in a relaxed and fun environment. If you are willing to learn and be creative, you will construct a unique work of art and have a blast doing it!

How long is a Workshop?

Most of our workshops last between 2-3 hours, depending on the project.

Do I need to pick out my paint and stain colors when I register?

When you come to your workshop, you will choose from a variety of eco friendly stains and paints to customize your unique project. We have a wide range of painting techniques and mediums to satisfy everyone’s design style.

Do you take walk-ins?

Due to limited seating and customization for each project, all workshops must be booked in advance on our on line registration form.

Do I pick my project in advance?

You must select a project and provide information for customizing your project when you book a workshop on our on line registration form. Please don’t forget to double-check your spelling and all information to guarantee that your project stencil and materials will be available for you at the beginning of the workshop.

Can I sit next to my family or friends?

Of course!  Whoever you are coming with to a workshop, please list whom you would like to be seated next to in the “comments” section on the on line registration form.

What time should I arrive?

We suggest that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to a workshop so that you can get settled in. Workshops will begin at the scheduled time.

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to the custom nature of our workshops, we do not offer refunds.  However, if you cancel at least 72 hours prior to a workshop, a class credit will be given for a future workshop.

Is there an age requirement to attend a workshop?

Yes. All those coming to a workshop must be 16 years old or older unless approved by the owner beforehand. Children under the age of 16 may attend a youth workshop or book a private party. Please check our calendar page for classes offered.

What do I wear?

We provide aprons, but you may want to wear something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on – just in case!

Can I bring my own food and snacks to a workshop?

You may bring your own beverages, small snacks or appetizers to a workshop. Please contact us for more information. (Only paper or plastic products and utensils are allowed in the workshop and are not provided).
